The three major components (rig, power pack and steering unit) are driven hydraulically. The rig consists of mast, top drive and break. The drill pipes are screwed to the drive shaft of the main transmission system. Data regarding the torque and forces applied to the drill pipes is gathered and analysed.

The Power Pack is powered by a diesel motor, which drives the hydraulic system. The pumps run the rotation, the shearing force, the brakes and the fans for the hydraulic cooling system. Additional pumps are used for the steering oil and pressure maintenance.

The steering unit is placed in a 20-foot-container. The maximum working voltage of the Power Pack and the mast is 24 V. The power supply is placed away from the explosion hazard area.
