The joint venture „Aardwarmte-Vogelaer“, which consists of seven greenhouse operators, will use the 85°C warm water in a depth of 2,500 m in order to heat their greenhouses.
During the contract negotiations a tour through the greenhouses showed the variety of production (being possible) in the huge areas surrounded by glass. By this kind of energy use, the joint venture saves approx. 13.5 million m³ natural gas and reduces the CO2 emission by 24 kiloton/year (equals the consumption of approx. 9,000 households).
